Staying Focused

Those who watched the September 18 Watertown Council meeting online may have noticed the anonymous attacks in the online Chat directed toward my physical appearance.

To pretend these comments didn’t hurt would be a lie. In fact, I think anyone at the target of such intentional cruelty would feel the pain… especially when the attacks are made during a public City Council meeting, which was also being recorded.

It’s possible these comments were made so that their writers could feel better about themselves. It’s also possible the anonymous authors are thinking their words will somehow diminish my desire or damage my campaign to become Watertown’s next mayor.

Friends and supporters have asked if I’m okay. What I tell them is that I know what was said... It stung for a short while... And I’ve moved on.

I won’t let the nasty words of a nameless few dampen my spirit or create doubt in my ability to lead our great city.

I have a clear vision for Watertown’s future. My focus right now is on sharing that vision with its people, demonstrating my ability to lead, and asking for their support.
